General Information in short:

The congress language is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided. Symposia in national languages organised by the National Affiliated Societies (NAS) will be offered in a dedicated room throughout the congress days.

The congress organiser will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to registered delegates requesting an invitation letter for visa purposes. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply a commitment from the congress to provide any financial support. Letters of invitation may be requested from the congress office not later than 8 January 2017. The letters will be sent by email or upon request by postal mail. In case an express delivery is needed, the delegate shall order a courier at his / her own expense.

Any Italian pharmaceutical company supporting or participating in a congress abroad is subjected to an authorization by AIFA (Italian drug agency), according to an Italian government decree (decreto legislativo 219/06 – art. 124).

The request of authorization must be submitted within 60 days before the starting date of the event. Italian pharmaceutical companies are advised to contact the official agency appointed by the organising secretariat:

The European Society for Sexual Medicine retains the right to publish all material presented at the Congress in an ESSM publication.

Accepted abstracts that are presented during the congress will be published in the online JSM supplement available from end of March 2017. Accepted abstracts that are not presented by the author or a presenter will not be published in the JSM online supplement.

Abstracts will also be published in CO CONGRESS ONLINE® from one day prior to the congress (1 February 2017) on the congress website and on CONGRESS MOBILE®, the congress app.

ESSM cannot assume liability for any changes in the congress programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

The speakers centre is located in Hermes Foyer on level 2 of the Nice Acropolis. 

Speakers are asked to hand in their CD ROM or USB stick, containing the PowerPoint presentation (IBM format or compatible, no multisession) preferably one day before their presentation but at least 90 minutes prior to the presentation.

The presentation will be transferred to the central congress server and will be available afterwards on a special congress notebook in the hall of the presentation. Due to time and technical reasons we kindly ask the speakers not to use their own notebook.

Several PC working stations are provided in the speakers centre where speakers can also work on their PC charts in a quiet area. Technical staff will be glad to assist.

All participants are kindly requested to wear their name badges at all times during the congress. The colors of the name badges have the following significance:

  • Congress delegate: blue

The technical exhibition will be situated in the exhibition hall Rhodes in front of the Athena Auditorium of the Nice Acropolis. Coffee bars will be located in the technical exhibition.

Posters and highlighted posters will be sited in the exhibition hall Rhodes in front of the Athena Auditorium of the Nice Acropolis.

ESSM highlighted poster tours will take place during the coffee breaks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each poster tour includes seven poster presentations chaired by two senior scientists. For further information please see from page 15 of the scientific program.

Posters that have not been removed by the respective time will be disposed of. Poster material to put up the poster is available at the poster desk close to the poster areas during the hanging. Alternatively you will get the poster material at the counter.

For ESSM membership issues and any other ESSM business, please contact our ESSM booth which is situated in the exhibition hall Rhodes of the Nice Acropolis. 

Coffee and tea will be served during the morning and afternoon, daily from Thursday, 2 to Saturday, 4 February 2017 free of charge to all participants wearing a congress name badge. A daily snack lunch as well as coffee breaks will be served in the exhibition area.

The congress venue also provides a bistro on the Level 2 where beverages and snacks can be purchased.

A cloakroom free of charge is available in the entrance area of the Nice Acropolis. Delegates can also store their luggage here.

There is a room set apart for prayers. It is a quiet place, where delegates may withdraw to see devine strength and guidance. The prayers room is located on level 2 next to the Athena Auditorium and Gallieni rooms. Please follow the signage.

In the case of emergency please address the staff at the registration counter in the entrance area of the Nice Acropolis. The attentive staff will be pleased to help.

Cameras, video cameras or audio recording devices are not permitted in the session rooms.

Any recording of sessions is strictly forbidden.

The Nice Acropolis is a non-smoking venue. Smoking is prohibited within the congress venue.

The congress fee does not include insurance.

All participants should arrange for their own insurance. Health and accident insurance is recommended and has to be purchased in your country of origin.

For reasons beyond its control (such as war, strikes, lockouts, riots or any such civil disturbances, any acts of god, including but not limited to earthquakes, floods, droughts and typhoons and any other cause of circumstance of whatsoever nature beyond control) that have an impact on the arrangements, timetables or planning of the 19th Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine and its corresponding activities in Nice, France, ESSM has the right to immediately alter or cancel the activities or events or any of the arrangements, timetables, plans or other items relating directly or indirectly thereto. No party involved shall be entitled to any compensation for damages that result from such alteration or cancellation.
